Mitch
Freeman has
had the opportunity
to live in 42
separate places
during his life.
These different
places have
provided a wide
range of ideas,
scenery, people,
and cultures
to experience.
From these personal
experiences
he has learned
to develop his
art into a variety
of styles, themes,
mediums and
materials.
In college
he started as
a Pre–Architecture
major at the
University of
Nebraska . He
did this for
two years before
transferring
to the College
of Charleston
and becoming
a Studio Art
major, with
an emphasis
in Sculpture.
It was here
that he learned
traditional
stone carving,
welding, wood
sculpture, bronze
casting, traditional
paint making,
and oil painting.
For the past
7 years Mitch
has been an
art teacher
grades 6-12,
teaching Intro
to Art, Art
I, Ceramics,
Paint making,
Photography,
and Active Art
History. He
has also taken
students to
Rome , Italy
to experience
an enormous
culture focused
on Art & Architecture.
The
Blairsville Sculpture
Garden is a cooporative
of the Blairsville
Union Chamber of
Commerce, The Downtown
Development Authority
of Blairsville,
the City of Blairsville,
and various private
businesses. The
Sculpture Garden
is also sponsored
in part by the Grassroots
Arts Program of
the Georgia Council
for the Arts through
the appropriations
of the Georgia General
Assembly and in
partnership with
Sustainable Arts
Society, Inc. The
Grassroots Arts
Program provides
funds to support
art activities
and encourage local
collaborations
between artists
and arts organizations.
