Riding HighRiding High at Sculpture Garden

"Riding High" the most recent addition to the Blairsville Sculpture Garden features a gnome catching a ride on the back of a giant six foot dragonfly.  It is the work of North Georgia sculptor Mal McEwen.  The public is invited to visit the "family friendly" sculpture garden located in downtown Blairsville on the south side of the square across from the Historic courthouse. The garden is open daily and is free of charge.

Blairville Sculpture Garden signWelcome to the Blairsville Sculpture Garden - a unique addition to Union County! The sculpture garden will be on display for at least one year and admission is FREE. The garden is designed to be a family-friendly exhibit including sculptures that will delight the young in age (and the young at heart). All participating artists are Georgia artists. Unveiling of the sculpturesBlairsville Sculpture Garden Ribbon Cutting Celebration

The unveiling and ribbon cutting ceremonies of the Blairsville Sculpture Garden coinsided with the DDA's Spring Arts & Crafts Festival on Saturday May 30, 2009. Announcements were made and excitement mounted as coverings were removed. Visitors were given photo op's and the chance to talk with participating artists. Hundreds of art lovers wandered through the garden during the first day and most agreed that it was an excellent addition to Downtown Blairsville.

Sculpture Garden Committee

The Sculpture Garden Committee includes Cindy Williams, Dennis Bradley, Janet Hartman, Carol Duckworth, Linda Gwynn, Helena Grossman, Sharry Morrison, and Ray Graphman.

 

 

 

 

Grassroots Arts Program
The Blairsville Sculpture Garden is a cooporative of the Blairsville Union Chamber of Commerce, The Downtown Development Authority of Blairsville, the City of Blairsville, and various private businesses. The Sculpture Garden is also sponsored in part by the Grassroots Arts Program of the Georgia Council for the Arts through the appropriations of the Georgia General Assembly and in partnership with Sustainable Arts Society, Inc. The Grassroots Arts Program provides funds to support art activities and encourage local collaborations between artists and arts organizations.
